If you notice your dog is underweight or even thin, as shown in the illustration below, you can adjust to increase the food intake slightly more in the spectrum of the recommended amount. Every eat is different. Feed each eat according to their own needs. Watch their health, their weight, and don't over stress over the numbers.

Ensure your cat is eating a Balanced Diet. Make sure they are enjoying their food. Don't force them to eat anything they don't like to suit your own ideals.

Feed small, frequent meals. Ensure they are satiated. Provide variety to avoid boredom and try not to over feed or under feed.

Spine, ribs and hips prominent and easily seen and felt with no fat cover. Obvious loss of muscle mass.

Bones are raised with minimal tissue between the skin and the bone. Obvious waist and abdominal tuck.

Ribs visible and easily felt.waist observed behind ribs when viewed from above. Abdomen tucked up when viewed from side.

Difficult to see or feel ribs through moderate fat cover. Slightly sagging abdominal fat pad may be seen in dogs. Abdominal tuck may be absent.

Ribs are not visible and difficult to feel through thick fat cover. Dogs have a prominent sagging abdominal fat pad. Waist and abdominal tuck absent.
